Response Info

Location Identification Information

To improve our Emergency Response and Pre-Planning for our fire district, we need your help!  Please do the following:

  1. complete a short questionnaire regarding your home or camp.
  2. identify your location with highly visible numbers

1. Complete a Questionnaire

Please provide information about your

  • Raquette Lake address
  • other addresses if appropriate
  • description of any buildings we would be responding to.

This information will be kept confidential in our files and will only be used for 911-style mapping, emergency situations, and emergency pre-planning by our officers.

If you received a snail mail letter from us, you will note that we have assigned a “911-style” address for your location (example: 1234). This will allow us to locate your driveway/house/dock in case of an emergency. If you use a “P.O. Box” address now, please document it and continue to use it for your mail. The snail mail letter also included your “Lot #,” which we received from the Town of Long Lake Assessor’s Office and phone number from the phone company. To confirm the information, please fill in the proper information and return the questionnaire to us.

2. Identify Your Location

You need to identify your location with a numbered sign (ie: 1234).  We are accepting only signs which conform to these requirements:

  • 6” x 12,” minimum size, any larger is your choice.
  • Reflective yellow letters over brown style sign.

Sign Placement

  • If you have a dock in addition to a house, please create an approved (911 type) sign for your dock and place the sign on the front of your dock.
  • If you have more than one residence(s) that uses the same dock, notify us and we will assign another number to those buildings.
  • If you have more than one residence/sign, you may choose to place similar signs on those buildings.

If you wish, the Luke Lanworthy (369-5775) in Old Forge is capable of making this type of sign for you. Please feel free to contact him if you wish.
